A Police Odyssey – Part 4: 1970-1980

I returned from Anguilla in December 1970 and the ‘winter of discontent’  of the Heath government was in full swing. There were three day working weeks for some and we suffered numerous power cuts. Keeping warm was a problem and having spent three months in the balmy climate of the West Indies it took a while to get accustomed to the cold of the English winter.

Down Memory Lane: 1970s – Chapter One

Today’s Technology 30 Years Ago…

Do you remember the visit of the young lady with the electric car?  I think she was from Seeboard, the local electricity company that wanted to show off the car of the future.

Well, the technology is available now albeit in a more sophisticated form with better styling and certainly a better range.  The performance was good though, particularly the acceleration, as I nearly managed to mow down some of the sixth form on the front drive.  It had the same characteristics in reverse too!

Looking at the members of the sixth form, I reckon this picture was taken in 1977.  At first sight, I reckon I can name at least 12 of the survivors not counting Bryan and myself.

What do you remember of this event and how many names can you provide?
