Thank you so much for doing this – wouldn’t it be wonderful to have a complete online archive of the Maroon and the Bordenian? – stored somewhere where we wouldn’t worry about merging the pages to have a single 30M file per issue.

I remember when Bryan announced it – he was deeply shocked. I suppose it captures some of the abject horror of burying your own children. It was a bad year – Michael Simpson was killed in Northern Ireland, and Rikki Knell (a classmate in the first form), still at the school, died very quickly after a brain tumour was detected.

Shocked and saddened to see Mick Simpson on the board. I was serving with BAOR at the time of his death and had no idea that he’d passed on. A sad loss indeed.

Keith Minton now has a second novel written accordinding to information received from old pal Philip Spencer Drury.
It concerns the trials and tribulations of a young underprivileged Tyneside female 1500 metres athlete,Kim Stanley in the lead up to the London Olympic plus her life around this.Very topical!

By the way, the reunion is for anyone in the year 1965 to 1972 whether they stayed on until 1972 or not – we have 23 contatcs and 17 acceptances so far. The Class of 72 are having a 40 year reunion in June 2012 and the photograph brings it home vividly that Mick Simpson won’t be with us. A life lost at a very young age
